‘No road, no vote' demo hits Ho

Residents of some traditional areas in the Ho municipality of the Volta region have embarked on a massive demonstration against the deplorable nature of the road linking their areas to the regional capital, Ho.

The over 500 residents clad in red attires with placards, from the Hodzo, Takla and Kpenoe traditional areas are protesting against government’s inability to construct the 15km road, which has never seen any bitumen surfacing.

The residents expressed anger over the numerous promises made by government officials including the Ho central MP, Benjamin Kpodo to get the road fixed in the early part of 2016.

“We are tired of the plenty lip services paid to our road and this time, we are resolute to boycott the elections if the road is not fixed,” an infuriated resident told Starr News.

The demo which started on the Ho barracks bridge will end at the premises of the Municipal assembly with a strongly worded petition to the President through the MCE.

Ironically, this protest comes days after another group of residents embarked on a walk to thank President Mahama for what they described as the ‘numerous’ developmental projects executed in the region, including the asphalting of the Ho township roads.
