NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo
Vice president Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has described the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign message heading to the forthcoming elections as “a threat to the peaceful coexistence” of the country.
Speaking during the launch of the NDC 2016 campaign at the Cape Coast Stadium in the Central region Sunday, Mr. Amissah Arthur chastised the NPP message warning that it is extremely divisive and must be disregarded.
He said president John Mahama is the best for Ghana and that it will be foolhardy for the electorate to subscribe to the NPP’s “change is coming message” which is a “threat to the stability and peace of this country.”
NDC’s Director of Elections Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, earlier called on electorate to shun the NPP and its flagbearer as a vote for them will end up instilling acrimony in the country.
The former national organiser of the party said Nana Akufo-Addo lacks the finesse to steer the affairs of the country, stating that Mahama is the only choice among the two.
According to him, Mr. Mahama since assuming the leadership of the country has demonstrated great leadership skills, making Ghana “an oasis of peace.”
He warned that it will be an unpardonable mistake for electorates to vote Nana Addo as President of the country.
He told the teeming NDC members amidst loud cheers that “…Do not make the mistake of voting Nana Addo because it will be another four years of ‘had I known’ which will always be at last.”
National campaign Coordinator of the NDC Kofi Adams also advised Ghanaians “not to make the mistake of voting the NPP into power” in the upcoming polls.
In his view, the NPP’s flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo has failed to unite the party and will therefore not be able to manage Ghana if elected.
In an apparent reference to the acid attack that led to the death of the NPP’s Upper East regional chairman, the national organiser of the umbrella family told the teeming supporters of NDC fateful in Cape Coast that “…On the other side what do we see? We see a party that is specialized in division, a party that is specialized in suspensions, a party that is specialized in intimidation, a party that is specialized in confusion, a party that is specialized in brutalization and last but not the least, the party that is specialized in acidification”.
