Don’t mimic NPP’s behavior – Rawlings warns NDC

The founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress Jerry John Rawlings has cautioned members of the party not to mimic the negative behavior of the opposition New Patriotic Party or risk losing the December polls.

Speaking at the party’s Campaign launch in Cape Coast, the Central regional capital, Former President Rawlings also called on members of the party not to allow unnecessary provocation to create unnecessary tension ahead of the December elections.

“I want to urge you to recognize that what is ahead of you won’t be an easy task, it’s going to be challenging so don’t allow unnecessary provocation to create unnecessary tension.

The former military leader also admonished party members not to fight the opposition NPP on their terms but rather on the terms of the ruling party.

“The NPP cannot be underestimated, they have been in existence for a long time and they have been changing their name to this point, the nature of who they are, what they are and where they come from is something they are happy about and if they will be there for a long time.

“The calculation I want to put before u is that by virtue of who they are will necessarily give rise of what you and I are in the NDC, we cannot afford to fight them on their terms it is important to fight them on our terms…let’s not us mimic their behavior… mimic them as some of you are doing and we will lose the elections,” former President Rawlings said.
