Penplusbytes Marks 15th Anniversary

Penplusbytes, a non for profit organization that is driving change in the Ghanaian media landscape through innovation, officially began its 15th anniversary celebration with the launch of its new information portal ‘Ghana Media Info Portal.’

The online platform, www.ghanamedia.info will serve as the first credible media directory in Ghana where organizations and individuals who want to send or obtain information on happenings in media organizations, especially ahead of the busy elections season, can go and obtain relevant information.

The launch of the portal is to enhance easy access to such information which is currently very scanty.

Dr. Kwami Ahiabenu II, Executive Director of Penplusbytes, interacting with journalist at an engagement, said the organization has since its establishment been at the forefront of promoting the ICT agenda in Ghana and has been building digital platforms for information sharing and gathering purposes.

“We have successfully complied and validated information on all media houses in the country and developed a web portal for people to access this information as and when needed,” he said.

President of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA), Affail Monney, who unveiled the online portal, commended the organization for driving innovations in quality journalism through the use of new media techniques and skills training.

He said the introduction of the portal, which gives detailed information about media organizations in Ghana across the 10 regions, was timely especially when the issues about the ownership of media house had become topical in the country.

Mr. Monney encouraged organizations and individuals to make use of the relevant information by visiting the portal for information on media institutions.
