A pupil of Services Primary School, Joseph Tindan Kuyon has won silver in the just ended World Children Taekwondo Culture Festival organised by the World Children Taekwondo Union (WCTU), in South Korea.

The four- day event drew participation from about 3000 children aged 5-13 globally. Ghana presented Kuyon who emerged second in the 53kg weight category.

A contingent of three, made up of Coach Joe Banfro, Kuyon and Chairman of the Greater Accra Taekwondo Association (GATA) Norbert Amefu made the trip to South Korea, in the four- day tournament.

The 13-years old who won bronze at the 2013 Norlympic Championship was presented with a silver medal and a certificate of merit.

The Chairman of GATA, Amefu told the GNA Sports that, “I think this will give exposure to the children and will also prepare them for the national team as soon as they get to 16 years and also the Junior Olympics. This is the first time in the history of taekwondo a pupil have achieved such a feat’’.

The former national star expressed satisfaction about the performance of the fighter and stressed that with adequate preparation and hard-work, he was confident Kuyon will emerge.
