Hajj: Jigawa Inaugurates 20-Member Committee

gov_sule-lamidoThe Jigawa State Government has inaugurated a committee for the airlifting of pilgrims to Mecca, Saudi Arabia this year.

The state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mahmoud, dropped the hint in a chat with reporters held in his office in Dutse, the state capital.

He declared: “On behalf of the state government, I was appointed to introduce about 20 members of the 2014 Hajj Pilgrims Committee with the state deputy governor as the chairman of the committee”.

The deputy governor also assured that the airlifting of the state’s intending pilgrims would commence next week from the newly constructed Dutse International Airport.

According to him, arrangements had been put in place to ensure a hitch-free airlift of pilgrims to the holy land as the test flight had already been done in the airport.

Mahmoud called on members of the committee to work hard and support the state government for a successful hajj operation this year.

He also commend Jigawa state Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, for his effort to provide the airport in the state as well as committing himself to ensure that it starts to function.
