Wizkid confirms he’s finally set to leave E.M.E

The fact that Wizkid’s days at E.M.E are numbered has been an open secret all along.

The question, really, has been: how soon would it be made official? If the pop star’s recent interview on ‘The Truth’ with Olisa Adibua is anything to go by, then the time is here already.

“Yes, this is pretty much my last album with E.M.E”  Wizkid says.

As it stands now, Wizkid, already the C.E.O of Starboy Records, has just one more obligation to fulfil with E.M.E and that is delivering one more album which should drop in a matter of weeks.

Speaking on his relationship with the label that groomed and launched him into stardom, he said “we are still family, we would still continue doing business together, Banky, Tunde and Segun Demuren are all like my big brothers, it’s a family thing, so we’ll definitely keep doing business.”

When asked how soon he’ll quit the label, Wizkid explained: “I’ve been with E.M.E for five years, so I don’t know what soon is, because when we started the whole Empire entertainment thing, it was to build an empire so everyone could grow, Skales is doing his thing, Banky is doing his thing too, we got Shaydee and Niyola, I got Starboy going on, so everyone is just trying to expand and grow at the end of the day.”

The singer had unsuccessfully tried to leave the label in 2012, causing huge media and legal drama that saw him do the right thing: stay back.

Interestingly, he also confirms that his debut on his own Starboy imprint will drop by December 2014 as well.
