The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Niger East Senatorial District by-election, Barr. David Umaru, yesterday said the party would not be deterred by the irregularities that marred Saturday’s poll and would mobilise for the September 6 supplementary election.

Addressing journalists yesterday in Minna, the Niger State capital, Umaru said that the party would not boycott the re-run, but would instead mobilise members to come out en masse for a landslide victory next Saturday against all odds.

The APC candidate expressed optimism that he would be victorious at supplementary poll and called on his teeming supporters not to despair.

We had earlier reported that the Niger East Senatorial District by-election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Shem Nuhu Zagbayi leading in the interim result released.

The APC candidate was trailing behind with 84,689 votes.
