La MP Lobbies Vetting Committee To Disqualify Some Candidates

The La Dade-Kotopon Member of Parliament, Hon. Nii Amasah Namoale, is caught on record revealing how he lobbied some members of the Greater Accra Regional Vetting Committee of the NDC to disqualify some candidates and make his favourites go unopposed. He is caught saying that three members of the vetting Committee (names are withheld)for the Dade-Kotopon NDC, are in his pocket.

As part of the Greater Accra Regional Constituencies of the NDC vetting, La had its own Friday, 22nd August, 2014 at the Greater Accra Regional Ministers’ residence. The La MP, who has shown much bias towards a certain group of Aspirants’, moves round the Constituency campaigning for them. Most of these biased favourites of the MP are incumbents. He made this statement at Kaajaanor, a Ward of the Dade-Kotopon NDC, La, during a campaign tour with these Aspirants in the evening of Friday, 22nd August, 2014.

He again repeated this same statement on Tuesday, 26th August, 2014, at the Greater Accra Regional Ministers residence, where the vetting took place. Unfortunately for him, as he was speaking with one Mr. Ala Lawrence, a Branch Chairman of the Sunset Polling Station, La, some Constituents from Okaikoi South, who also came for their vetting and happens to know one of the names mentioned, recorded everything he said.

The MP openly declared that,“he would never allow Mr. Tetteh Caternor (a Constituency Secretary hopeful), Mr. Lamptey Lawrence (a Constituency Propaganda Secretary hopeful), Mr. Jake Adjei-Kwei (the MP’s former Personal Assistant, and a Constituency Organizer hopeful) and some other aspirants who have had little misunderstandings with him, to sail through the vetting”.

He added that he has already lobbied some influential members on the Vetting Committee to kick the names mentioned above out. Should this morally corrupt and vindictive behaviour be encouraged in a democratic party, especially from a law maker who must know better?

He further alleged that these persons mentioned above are after his position, and the position of the Municipal Chief Executive of the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly; what a malicious cover-up?

He, knowing clearly of his performance and that of the Executives he is promoting, fears any fairly organized contestations. Why would a person fear contestations if that person has really delivered? Why would the MP want some candidates to go unopposed; is it a sign of failure or a fear of contestations?

Why would the MP go to the extent of lobbying against other candidates, whose performance in the Constituency is written boldly on the walls for all to see? This is a defeatist approach and the MP must be called to order. These questions must be answered appropriately, otherwise!!!!!!

We call for a complete investigation into the allegations levelled above. All names mentioned must be thoroughly scrutinized for an alleged act of complicity.

The Regional Vetting Committee must be transparent, fair, and professional in discharging their duties. The Party stands to lose a lot of followers if these evil and malicious acts are allowed to go without punishment, especially when Government of the ruling party is also facing some serious economic challenges.

Truth will always triumph over evil. There is frustration among the rank and file of the Party; apathy has set into the grass-root level due to poor show of some crop of leaders whose poor relationship skills have highly caused massive disaffection in the Party. The new faces emerging are willing and able to revive confidence in the Party if given the chance. Any hindrance to this is a suicidal act by the Party.

There are many ways of killing a cat!!!!!!!!!!!

A word to the wise…………….?

Thank you.
