Fast killing cholera far from over as 300 cases recorded each day in Greater Accra

Greater Accra Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service has indicated that the fast killing cholera is far from over in the region and so the public should take extra precautions.

Linda Van-Otoo blamed the ceaseless cholera cases recorded at the various infirmaries to the rains, which she noted contaminate drinking water and foods with faecal matter.

Recorded cholera cases in the region alone have inched to about 6000 and if care is not taken, there would be more cases and deaths.

According to Dr. Van-Otoo, who spoke on the Joy Midday News Friday, some 200 to 300 cholera cases are recorded each day in the region alone.

In order to stop the canker from further killing more innocent lives in the region, she advised the public to wash their hands thoroughly under running water with soup, after every visit to the toilets.

The Regional Director added also that people must be mindful of the kind water they drank while eating very hot foods.

This way, they would not be victims of the deadly disease.
