We Are Ready To Sponsor Amputee League

Mrs Sylvia Adobea Adadey, Director of Events and Marketing of the Christian Community Micro-finance Limited (CCML), has expressed her company’s preparedness to sponsor the National Amputee League.

She said this would help in creating awareness for other corporate bodies to also come on board with sponsorships.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mrs Adadey said CCML was engaging in a social responsibility programme to climax its 35 years anniversary celebration this year.

She said as part of the celebration the CCML has adopted the National Amputee Football team as its ambassadors in their preparation towards the World Amputee Football Cup in Mexico.

Mrs Adadey said: “We adopted the Amputee’s football because we have identified their strength in pursuing their goals and passion even in the midst of the many challenges that faced them,” adding that: “the cost involved in organizing the league will be taken care of by CCML.”

She said as a Christian organization, wholly owned by the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), all our programmes were geared towards community development in eradicating poverty and improving lives.

“After series of transition as an organization, we have been providing credit facilities to micro-entrepreneurs, small businesses, private schools, health institutions as well as churches since 1979.”

Mr Kuku Dsane, Acting President of the Ghana Amputee Football Federation (GAFF) told the GNA that, the sponsorship had come as a huge relief for the Federation and the National Sports Authority, which is struggling for funds to ensure that the team participated in this year’s World Cup.

He expressed gratitude to the CCML for their kind gesture.

Mr Benjamin Charles Armah, Head Coach of the GAFF, urged all amputees in the Northern and sector, who have confirmed their participation, to now contact the office at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“The training league is aimed at identifying talents for further training and selection to feature in the national team for the impending world cup,” he stated.

Mr Armah said Ghana has become the pivot on which Amputee Football thrives in Africa and beyond, adding that: “I will be glad to recruit more amputees begging for alms on the streets into the national league.”
