Emmanuel Tetteh Ayanor, a 90-year-old resident of Otanor Electoral Area in the Adentan Municipal Assembly, has called on the youth to uphold good morals in order to live long to achieve their dreams.

He gave the advice at a reception hosted last week by the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMa) for senior citizens within the municipality.

The event which should have taken place on July 1, marking Ghana’s 54 th Republic Day, was delayed as a result of the assembly’s inability to confirm a substantive Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) at the time.

Mr Tetteh bemoaned the present breakdown of discipline among Ghanaians especially the youth.

He warned that the future would be bleak for succeeding generations if the current trend continues, and strongly charged parents and other stakeholders working to shape the lives of children to rise up to the challenge.

The MCE for Adentan, Benjamin Baroson Angenu, reiterated the need to recognise the contributions of the aged in the society.

He paid glowing tribute to them for their relentless efforts at not only shaping lives, but also playing great roles at the various sectors of national economy.

The MCE who spoke on a number of issues expressed worry about the rise of double standards or hypocrisy among candidates who are aspiring to enter public service.

Mr Angenu reiterated that those who seek the trust of voters must be cautious of the promises that they make.

He further called for a stable local government system in which assembly members agree on common interests to help the municipality with its development agenda.

The Chairman for the event, Nii Armalai Mensah Botchwey, described the event as historic and one to interact and draw inspirations from.
