The family of the 24 -year-old Ivorian student allegedly murdered at SCC, a suburb of New Weija in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, has arrived in Ghana.

The deceased, Medeline Josian E. Souadou, was purportedly stabled to death in her room by the suspect, John Meviane, 22, a Gabonese student of Ambassador University College at Lapaz in Accra.

New Twist
Chief Superintendent Paul Kontoma, Accra Regional Crime Officer, in a telephone interview with DAILY GUIDE yesterday, confirmed the arrival of the family of the deceased.

‘It’s today that the parents have come from Ivory Coast and have gone to the hospital with the investigator to find out when the postmortem will be done,’ he said.

The Accra Regional Crime Officer indicated that the family was yet to see the body and ascertain whether it is true the deceased was indeed stabbed to death.

He however, added that the suspect was yet to be put before court, adding that since it’s a murder case, he could not be granted bail.

Chief Superintendent Kontoma had earlier told the media that the police had a distress call that someone was being lynched by a mob at Moses Down near One Plus One Spot. According to him, the victim was John Meviane (suspect) who was said to have gone into somebody’s room to steal a laptop.

He claimed that the timely intervention of the police rescued the suspect at the hands of the rampaging mob who had wanted instant justice.

Chief Superintendent Kontoma stated that a search conducted on John revealed a kitchen knife with blood stains.

According to the Accra Regional Crime Officer, the deceased was found in her room with knife wounds on the neck, hands and abdomen.

He said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital awaiting autopsy.
