Accra, Aug. 11, GNA – Mr Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme, former Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed confidence in winning the upcoming regional Chairmanship election of the party.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on his chances of winning the NDC Regional Chairman seat, he said the grassroots members in the region are now discerning and looking for a change and on someone they can depend on in terms of party activities to remain in power.

He said his loyalty and commitment to the party in the region over the years was ample proof of his concern for the interest and welfare of the branches of the party in the region.

‘Regional Chairman duties required a servant who has the capacity to identify and evaluate the needs and aspirations of the grassroots members to help provide solutions,’ he stressed.

The former MP, who is also a former constituency youth organiser, explained that he had participated in all regional party activities, adding that: ‘I have the requisite experience and the administrative acumen to handle the position as regional chairman.

‘I will wrest the three orphan seats, Tema East and West and Ayawaso Central from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).’

‘People will vote for you based on your background and strong commitment towards improving the living conditions of the grassroots members and I will marshal all resources, human and material to develop the region when given the mandate,’ he said.

Mr Tackie Komme enumerated his plans and programmes that would ensure the development of the youth and help the women’s wing in their small scale businesses in the region.

‘I owe it a duty to the country to ensure that it retained power come 2016 when given the nod.’

He appealed to members of the party to close their ranks and work together, devoid of bickering, acrimony, disunity, and cautioned the rank and file members not to play in the hands of the NPP, ‘that is bent on fragmenting our front, using cheap propaganda strategies to achieve their political interest,’ he said.
