Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North and narcotics ex-convict, Eric Amoateng has failed to meet his bail conditions after being granted bail on Friday 8 August.
However, his son Augustine Kwesi Amoateng said processes to ensure his release are still on-going.
Speaking on Joy News he said “you know sometimes things don’t work the way you expect but we are on it, we are almost through”.
Mr. Eric Amoateng was arrested and jailed in the United States of America in 2006 for trafficking 136 pounds of heroin worth $6million.
He returned to Ghana on Thursday 7 August after serving a ten year jail term in an American prison but was arrested immediately on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for allegedly possessing a forged passport.
The act by the police angered his family who say the incident ruined an otherwise long awaited re-union.
He was however granted a GHÈ» 200, 000 bail with three sureties to be justified by an Accra circuit court but his lawyers failed to get sureties for his properties to be verified in time for his release.
His son said all processes are being duly followed and is confident his father will be released today.
