2 Perish In Gory Crash On Mampong Road

The Opel car was reportedly coming from Mampong area. Upon reaching the Kofiase junction, it attempted to negotiate a curve but the cargo truck, which was also coming from the same direction, ran into it.

The truck, with registration number AS 7495-Y, reportedly trapped the Opel Salon car and dragged it for some metres, destroying the car and killing two people instantly.

The horrific incident occurred on Saturday around 4:30pm, and attracted a sizeable number of people who rushed the injured person to the Mampong hospital for treatment.

An eye witness, Addae Brobbey, said there was blood all over the accident scene, disclosing that the two deceased persons, identified as Kofi Yesu and Wofa Atta, were conveyed to the morgue.

According to him, Wofa Atta returned from Italy on Tuesday and was on his way, together with his pal, Kofi Yesu, to visit his family at Kofiase when the accident occurred.

Brobbey said the Opel car which was from the Mampong direction was closely followed by a taxi cab and the cargo truck.

Upon reaching the Kofiase junction, the Opel car indicated that it was turning left from the main road towards the Kofiase area. The taxi which was behind the Opel slowed down and took the right lane.

According to him, the driver of the Cargo truck, who probably did not see the signal made by the Opel car, sped right in the direction where the Opel car was turning, resulting in the gory crash.

Brobbey said there was a deafening noise all over the area due to the big impact, stating that Wofa Atta and Kofi Yesu died instantly, whilst the other person on board sustained serious injuries.

According to him, there were melancholic scenes at the scene of the accident as people, especially, the women who rushed to the scene, wept uncontrollably for the dead persons.
