Soldier Arrested For Robbery


The other suspects are Ahmed Edusah, 28 years old; Michael Tetteh, 32; Christian Obina Anomu, 32; Joseph Boafo, 25; Nana Yaw Tuffuor and Mark Lawrence Madugba Chison, 36.

DCOP Alex Quainoo, Western Regional Police Commander who disclosed this, stated that the victims of the robberies were gold dealers operating in the area.

He stated that on September11, 2013, Ahmed Edusah, Chison, Joseph Boafo and Nana Yaw Tuffuor, allegedly indulged in robbery at Akyempim, near Tarkwa.

The police officer indicated that the suspects robbed the victim, a gold dealer, of an amount of GH¢600,000.

He explained that Ahmed Edusah lived in a house directly at the back of the victim’s office, and that on that fateful day the accused persons went to hide near the office as the victim was carrying the money he had withdrawn from the Access Bank, Tarkwa branch, to his office.

DCOP Quainoo added that when the victim arrived at the office at about 4:30 pm, the accused persons suddenly surfaced, started firing warning shots, snatched the Nissan pick-up with registration number GN 3628-13, which was being driven by the victim and drove it away.

The Regional Police Commander said that on October 8, 2013, Ahmed Adusah, Michael Tetteh, Emmanuel Owusu-Yeboah (and two others at large) were involved in a robbery case at Hotel de Hilda area at Tarkwa.

He indicated that in another incident, Ahmed Edusah monitored a man who had gone to cash some amount of money at the bank, while Corporal Owusu-Yeboah waylaid at the hotel junction in his car – a Toyota Corrola with registration number ER 112-12 – waiting for the victim.

According to DCOP Quainoo, Michael Tetteh and two others (at large), took cover around the hotel junction. Immediately the victim’s vehicle got to the area, the suspects emerged, allegedly pulled out the driver and shot him in the thigh. They seized the victim’s vehicle and removed an amount of               GH¢300,000 from his bag.

He disclosed that the last alleged robbery case involving the accused persons took place on April 24, 2014, in which an amount of GH¢1.5 million was taken away from the victim.

DROP Quainoo revealed that the police had confiscated some valuable assets of the suspects and that they would soon be put before court.
