David Oscar Hopeful For GH Comedy

He has been a staunch crusader for stand-up comedy in this country over the last few years and comedian/television presenter, David Oscar believes some real progress is now being made on the comedy front.

Speaking to The Mirror at the launch of a new campaign platform for Accra Brewery’s Castle Milk Stout recently in Accra, Oscar said the blossoming of fresh new talent on the comedy front is an encouraging development.

“In a few years from now, our side of the entertainment market is going to blossom very well for all to see and experience,” he stated with confidence.

David Oscar was widely known for his Laugh A Minute spot on Viasat One. He founded the Corporate Comedy Series which aims at reaching corporate clients throughout the country with good, hilarious entertainment.

Local comedians Oscar has been working with on the Corporate Comedy Series include DKB, Foster, Khemikal, James Brown, Percy and Aglah and Augustine Dennis.

The programme has been to Tamale, Koforidua, Cape Coast and Accra. It is due in Takoradi next month.

“Previously, it was difficult to defend the cause of Ghanaian stand-up comedy because there was very little material out there to show. It is a different situation now and it will get better,” Oscar explained.
