A pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) women’s group christened as Yaa’yi has commended the 2012 presidential candidate of the party, Nana Akuffo Addo, for joining Muslims in Nima and its environs to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr festivities.

A statement issued by Yaa’yi in Accra and signed by its Communication Director, Hajia Mariam Laminu, described Nana Addo as “a social character, a trait needed by the country, as solutions are sought to solve the social and economic problems of the nation”.

Yaa’yi, which in the Hausa language means “it has happened”, is formed largely to organise and mobilize inhabitants of Zongo communities to vote for the opposition NPP in the next presidential and parliamentary elections in 2016 and also support the candidature of Nana Addo in the NPP presidential primaries.

“It was joyful for Nana Addo to join us as we celebrated an important event in the calendar of Muslims the world over and this goes to underscore the love and admiration he has for us” the statement said.

According to the statement the flagbearer hopeful of the NPP has throughout his professional and political career exhibited tolerance and respect for people of diverse background, which makes him the ideal person to lead the nation.

“Although from a privileged family, Nana Addo has always considered this as an opportunity to render public service and also contribute immensely to Ghana, a country so cherished by his family and the political traditions he belongs to”.

Members of Yaa’yi have always praised the NPP for bringing the Holy Qur’an in the presidential office following the appointment of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama as the vice president of the country from 2001 to 2008.

“Only the Nana Addo/Bawumia team can ensure that our Holy Qur’an is used during the presidential swearing in ceremony in 2017 and to bring back the Qur’an to the flagstaff house.

Statement said Ghana’s economic problems can also be solved if only the NPP under Nana Addo is given the mandate in the 2016 elections. Yaa’yi is therefore calling on all Muslims to look to the coming of Nana Addo.
