Bench Warrant For SSNIT Defaulters In Goaso

The four companies were dragged to the court by the Goaso Branch of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) after several efforts to recover the monies proved futile.

The directors and their companies however failed to appear in court during sitting, compelling the trial judge to issue the bench warrants for their arrest.

The affected companies and their directors now being hunted by the police are Samuel Ameku of Samdoe 2002 Limited, who has defaulted to the tune of GH¢12,491.23; Baah Donkor Francis of Octagon Executive Lodge, who also owes GH¢6,428.70, Simon Dzikunu of Star Oil Company, also owing GH¢2,212.21 and Isaac Kofi Frimpong of Build Image Enterprise who is also in default of GH¢373.59.

The Goaso Branch Manager of SSNIT, Patrick Agblemor, told DAILY GUIDE that SSNIT adopts prosecution when an employer becomes recalcitrant and fails to negotiate for manageable terms to clear the arrears.

Mr. Agblemor noted that non-payment and delayed payment of social security contributions deny SSNIT of investible funds which is a serious offence under the National Pensions Act 2008, Act 766.

He therefore appealed to employers to take advantage of negotiations to clear their arrears since SSNIT is obliged under the law to pay benefits to employees when due even though contributions are unduly delayed or outstanding.

Meanwhile, the Sunyani Area Senior Prosecutor, Foster Adjei, has sent a notice to all defaulting employers in all four branch offices across the region, namely Sunyani, Wenchi, Techiman and Goaso to pay up their debts or face court action.
