Police officer attempts ‘suicide’ at Kaneshie

A police officer was said to have attempted suicide by allegedly inflicting multiple cuts on himself at Flamingo-Kaneshie in Accra, Monday.

Eyewitnesses say they saw Corporal Eric Boateng naked on the streets of Kaneshie stabbing himself and shouting for God’s forgiveness.

Onlookers reported the incident to the Odorkor Police which quickly detailed personnel to the scene and rushed the officer to the Police Hospital in Accra.

The Public Relations Officer of the Hospital, ASP Juliana Obeng confirmed to the incident to Adom News and added that Corporal Eric Boateng was responding to treatment.

ASP Obeng also confirmed that the person on admission had a Ghana Police Service Administration identity card on him when he was rushed to the hospital.

She stated that the Odorkor Police monitoring team brought the officer to the hospital.

She however said they are yet to confirm if the officer indeed stabbed himself as the police have begun investigations into what may have led to the police officer’s alleged action.
