Chelsea Winger Christian Atsu’s Loan Move To Everton Hits a Snag

Ghana’s talented players Christian Atsu’s proposed loan move to English side Everton has stalled after his club Chelsea demanded first-team football for the winger.

Everton want the silky midfielder on loan for one season but the Blues insist the Ghana international must be guaranteed a place in the first team of the Toffees.

Atsu, who spent last season at Vitesse, is wanted by Everton but they are unwilling to guarantee which had led to Chelsea developing cold feet over the move for the Ghanaian.

Atsu was brought up in conversation between the Merseyside club and the Stamford Bridge outfit during negotiations over Romelu Lukaku’s £28 million move to Goodison Park.

Officials at Chelsea were understood to be keen for the winger to work with Roberto Martinez after Lukaku enjoyed a prolific 2013-14 season in front of goal under the former Wigan boss.

But the west London club want assurances that Atsu will play regular first-team football next season if he is loaned out – something Everton are unable to guarantee.

A number of other Premier League clubs are also keen to loan Atsu, who spent last season in the Netherlands with Chelsea’s partnership club Vitesse.

The 22-year-old also went to the World Cup with Ghana, and started each of the African side’s three group games.
