Outstanding per diems cleared

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), has cleared the last batch of per diems and allowances due athletes at the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The athletes who were due per-diems and allowances totalling 3,500 USD, were given an initial payment of 2,400USD at the early stages of the competition.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports, reveals that, the remaining 1,100usd was paid the athletes on Thursday, by officials of the Ministry and the National Sports Authority (NSA).

The payment of the allowances and per-diems, covered pre-tournament preparations and the competition itself.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s contingent will start leaving Glasgow On Sunday, August 3 and Monday, August 4, after the 11-day competition.

Ghana managed two bronze medals from boxing and judo in the competition and placed 33rd on the 36 nation medal table.
