The Ghana Free Zones Board [GFZB] as part of this year’s Eidul- Fitr celebration, have donated an unspecified amount of money to the National Chief Imam, His, Eminence, Dr. Osumanu Nuhu Sharubutu.
Presenting the cheque to the Chief Imam at his office at Fadama in Accra, Hajia Hannatu Abubakar, the GFZB Investor Support Services Manager, commended the Chief Imam for his continuous benevolence to mankind regardless of one’s religious affiliation.
Hajia Hannatu said the donation is her outfit’s widow’s might to support the Imam as he also extends helping hands to the poor, aged, vulnerable and the needy who thronged his house day in and day out to feast during and after the Ramadan month.
This is not the first time that the Ghana Free Zones Board [GFZB] is extending a hand of felicitations to his Eminence Dr. Sharubutu but our previous presentations have been in the Holy Ramadan Month.
We decided for this year’s donation to take place during the Eid festivities, because feeding of the poor, vulnerable and the aged in the Chief Imam’s house takes place beyond the Ramadan period. The Free Zones Board will continue to assist the National Chief Imam in order for him to continue with his good work aimed at helping the needy in the society.
She indicated that what they have given out is less or nothing compared to what the National Chief Imam has been doing in his efforts at putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged within the society who she added are not always Muslims .
She also used the opportunity to explain the free zones programs to the media. She said the aim of the free zones programs is to add value to Ghana’s raw materials that are manufactured and exported to the outside world. This she said gives the country an entrenched position in both domestic and international trade.
She debunked claims in the section of the public that the free zones are a sole preserve of only foreign businesses and investors. She disclosed that more than 50% of the registered companies under the GFZB are owned by Ghanaians.
To this end, Hajia Hannatu Abubkar urged Ghanaian businesses, entrepreneurs and potential investors to acquire the free zones statuses or join the free zones bandwagon so as to add value to their ventureships.
She further used the opportunity to wished Muslims all over the world a blissful Eidul-Fitr celebration, for successfully completing their month long fasting period. She encouraged them to maintain the good work and refrain from the dislikes of the Almighty Allah.
The good work and increase in prayers such as Quran recitations, charity given amongst others must not end with the completion of Ramadan, we must endeavour to continue doing such good things even after the Holy Month has ended, she added.
Hajia Hannatu who doubles as a member of the Chief Imam’s Advisory Board on Women Affairs, charged Muslims to live peacefully with other religious groups and to contribute meaningfully their quota to the socio-economic development of Ghana.
In his response, Dr. Nuhu Osumanu Sharubutu, thanked the Ghana Free Zones Board for their continuous kind gesture to him. He expressed his appreciation to the gesture and prayed for the Board and mother Ghana as a whole.
The National Chief Imam who also expressed his gratefulness to the GFZB said ” whoever is not grateful to mankind, would never be grateful to God”.
The presentation ceremony was also witnessed by Mr. Ziblim Alhassan, the GFZB Head of Administration, Mr. Frederick K. Larbi, GFZB Head of IT and Alhaji Abudul Latif of the office of the National Chief Imam.
