Hit-Maker 3 launches; GH₵100,000 top prize up for grabs


 ‘Dream it. Be it’. That’s the tagline for the third edition of the exciting annual music talent show, MTN Hit-Maker which rolled out Thursday.

At the launch of the music reality show at the Ridge Office of telecoms giant, MTN, Chief Marketing Officer of the company, Rahul De promised the third edition of the contest will be ‘bigger and better’.

‘The platform is being opened again to all who have got unique talents and are ready to showcase their creativity’, he remarked.

Already winners of the first two editions of the MTN Hit-Maker are making big impacts in Ghana’s music industry.

Shadrack Adjei, aka Naterial, who emerged the ultimate winner in the first edition is supporting upcoming musicians in his community through rap concerts on festive occasions.

Naterial is also preparing to release his second album.

Miriam Afari, who also contested in the maiden Hit-Maker reality show was nominated for the Best Female Vocal Performance at the VGMAs recently.

Winner of last year’s edition, Koo Ntakra, is currently being managed by one of Ghana’s biggest artiste management agencies, and will soon launch an album.

MTN Hit-Maker reality show hunts for an underground musician with the best musical talent and supports the person with a cash amount to record and promote a complete album.

The winners for the first and second seasons, Naterial and Koo Ntakra received GH¢100,000 recording deal, and so will the ultimate winner for season three.

Prospective contestants of the show must drop their demos at MTN branche offices across the country, upload it on MTNplay portal or at partner radio stations.

A panel of judges will be part of the selection process at the regional level.

Screening and auditions begin after close of collection of entries, where judges Besa Simons, Ofoe Kodjoe and new entrant Hammer (of ‘The Last Two’ fame) will select the best 10 contests.

The 10 contestants will then battle it out for 13 weeks in a house after which the best four talents will be selected.

This year, TV personality Peace Hyde joins disc jockey Bola Ray to co-host the show.
