The Appolonia Development Company in collaboration with Rendeavour have commissioned a newly refurbished Community Health Post at Appolonia, a community in the Kpone-Katamanso district in the Greater Accra region.
The ultra modern health facility will ensure quality health delivery to the community and its environs.
The health post which hitherto could not boost of any modern healthcare facility has now been pimped with of electricity, water reservoir, a maternity ward, a medical refrigerator and other essential healthcare infrastructure.
As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, in May 2014, Appolonia Development Company cut sod for the rehabilitation of the community Health Post.
This will enable the health post it become an accredited National Health Insurance Service provider for effective health delivery in the area.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Rendeavour Ghana, Anthony Okyere said the refurbishment of the health post is a testament of the benefit the community will derive from their partnership with them.
‘We are delighted that this rehabilitation has taken place and feel it is testament to the benefit that a development such as Appolonia City of Light can bring to the local community and the region’ he added.
Anthony Okyere said even though they have not made any profit in the area, they committed to making it habitable for all.
Also, the District and Regional Health Director, Patience Mamattah, expressed her excitement about the project noting that it will improve healthcare delivery to the community.
According to her, ‘access to healthcare is a component to reducing maternal and neo-natal mortality to achieve the Millennium Development Goal four and five’.
The District and Regional Health Director underscored the need for more attention on healthcare at the grassroots to avert preventable deaths.
Patience Mamattah urged the community members to make good use of the facility and properly maintain it to achieve its intended purpose.
On his part, Chief of Appolonia, Nii Nuerty Amobi II commended Appolonia Development Company and Rendeavour for the project.
‘I know this project is the beginning of good things to come and I urged other corporate organization to emulate their example’
Nii Nuerty Amobi II pledged the community’s commitment to put the health centre into good use.
Also present at the inauguration are Greater Accra Minister and the Member of Parliament for Kpone Katamanso, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Kpone Katamanso Districtr Chief Executive, Alhaji E.A Tetteh, officials of Rendeavour, Regional and District Health Directors, elders and people of Apollonia.
