Chief Dances ‘Azonto’

The Ahenkro chief, who could not hide his joy due to the opening of the police station in his town, exhibited his ‘Azonto’ skills alongside DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who was also delighted.

There were cheers from the happy Ahenkro residents that had thronged the forecourt of the newly constructed one-storey police station complex as the chief and the police capo danced.

The chief and people of Ahenkro constructed the police station with their own resources after it became evident that nobody was ready to assist them.

Nana Ahenkro Sei Ababio III said that politicians have in the past failed to fulfill numerous promises in relation to the construction of a police station for the town.

‘My people and I decided to construct the police station with our own resources.’

The traditional leader indicated that he decided to spearhead the construction of the police station to help prevent crime and promote development and peace in the town.

Nana Ahenkro Sei Ababio III, who was excited, urged the police personnel that would man the edifice to take proper care of the facility to ensure its longevity.

DCOP Kofi Boakye sternly cautioned the public against hiding behind political parties to break the law, stressing that anyone that would flout the law would be dealt with accordingly.

He urged the police personnel that have been posted to the police station to exhibit professionalism so as to win the support of the public, commending the Ahenkro chief for building the police station.

DCOP Boakye entreated chiefs and district assemblies to start constructing police stations in their localities to help boost security, noting that the police administration and government do not have the financial wherewithal to build police stations across the country.

Oppong Kyekyeku, District Chief Executive (DCE), Affigya Kwabre, commended the chief for his foresight in building the police station, stating that the existence of the police station would help combat crime in the area.
