Let’s Bite Bullet Together – Mahama


Addressing the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi yesterday, the President maintained that government was putting in place pragmatic measures to fix the ailing economy and help transform the lives of the people, latest by next year.

He called for total support from all and sundry to help restore the country to the path of glory; and admonished those he said had been criticizing the government unduly to come on board to save the country from its current state.

‘Don’t sit on the sideline and criticize; the time to talk is over,’ the President remarked, stating that he had completed the reshuffle of his administration and that the time had come for the government machinery to move into full gear.

He attributed Ghana’s current economic woes to the collapse of the country’s leading commodities on the international market, unsustainable subsidies of petroleum products and utilities, the energy crisis, among others.

President John Dramani Mahama said though the country was facing economic challenges, Ghana’s situation was not worse, sounding optimistic that with oneness – irrespective of one’s religious, tribal and political differences – Ghana could overcome its woes.

He said the government, as one of the measures to revamp the ailing economy, had decided to reduce expenditure.

He admonished the populace to endure the harsh policies that the government had implemented, assuring that by the end of 2014 Ghanaians would begin to experience some positives in their lives.

Presentation Of Vehicles
President Mahama presented 13 four-wheel drive pickups to be distributed among the National House of Chiefs, the Chieftaincy Secretariat and the ten Regional Houses of Chiefs to help in their work.

Government, he said, was committed to helping the chieftaincy institution to develop so as to enable it play leading roles in the promotion of peace and development of the country.

He condemned the brutal murder of a chief at Bimbilla, assuring that government would do everything within its power to get the culprits of that dastardly act arrested to face the law.

Government, the President said, would not interfere in chieftaincy issues but he pointed out that it would not sit aloof for some people to disturb the peace of the country through the chieftaincy institution.
