Chocho Gets Top Award

THE AFRICAN Project and Programme Management Association (APPMA) has bestowed on Alhaji Mustapha Oti-Boateng, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chocho Industries, with the Project Management Excellence Award during  a high profile conference in Accra.

The prestigious award, a certificate and a citation, put together by APPMA in collaboration with Direct Leadership Institute and America Academy of Project Management recognised Alhaji Oti-Boateng’s  core leadership and professional excellence in his career as an accomplished entrepreneur, chief executive officer, leader and an administrator.

APPMA described his contribution to human capital projects and the socio-economic development of Ghana and Africa as a whole as worth-encouraging.

A portion of the citation read, ‘The evaluation team was particularly impressed by the level of professionalism, passion and entrepreneurial expertise he has invested in company as an indigenous company, poised and positioned to compete in the international market.

‘Since 2003, when he started production in his kitchen, Alhaji Oti-Boateng has positioned the Chocho brand and the institution as a competitive conglomerate within the alternative health and fast moving consumable goods industry in Ghana and Africa at large,’ it added.

Nicknamed Alhaji Chocho, winner of 2013 Entrepreneur of The Year Award described the award as a great honour saying, ‘I am highly honoured by this recognition, this goes to show that people monitor whatever you do.

‘It pays to be diligent even when nobody is watching. This will certainly urge me on to go the extra mile,’ he said.

The award granted the Chocho boss the prestigious Chartered Fellow Status and the graduate certification and designation as a Master Project Manager (MPM) from AAPM for satisfying the skills requirement, experience, and other non-academic requirement for certification.

Lt Gen Arnold Quainoo, MV MSG Executive Director, who chaired the event commended the award winners and urged them to esteem learning in every sphere of their endeavours.

Other high profile personalities who were recognised were Ken Ashigbey, MD of Graphic Group of Companies, Dr Mike Omotosho, MD of Sustainable Health International, Daniel Tee Kasser, Head of Communication and Public Relations, Ecobank Ghana, among others.

The conference was on the theme ‘Africa’s Competitiveness and Integration To The World Economy: The Role of Project Managers’.
