Ashaiman Gets First CHIPS Compound

THE ASHAIMAN Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) has held a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of maiden Community-Based Health Planning and Service (CHIPS) compound at Tsui-Bleo in Lebanon, a suburb of Ashaiman.

Residents of the area would benefit from health centre project, estimated at GH¢135, 349, 72, the first of its kind in Ashaiman Municipality which would provide close-to-client services and other health outcomes.

The residents of Ema Ohie Electoral Area, where the CHIPS is located, expressed their joy and delight at the inauguration of a CHIPS compound in their area to cater for their health needs.

Dr Esi Therson Cofie, the Municipal Directorate in Ashaiman, expressed her joy in the establishment of the CHIPS compound in Ashaiman which would fast-track the works of community health nurses and midwiferies.

According to Dr Therson Cofie, the health centre would be targeting maternal health care and children under five with a-24 hour home service.

She said CHIPS seeks to provide close-to-client services and other health outcomes particularly to communities by actively engaging community members as partners in the delivery of health services.
