As part of efforts to promote financial inclusion and corporate sustainability, Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited has introduced its Smart Account and Agency Banking concept to industry players on the African continent.
At the just-ended Africa CEO Roundtable & Conference on Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility (AR-CSR) at Calabar in the Cross River State, Nigeria, Dr. William Derban, Director for Financial Inclusion at Fidelity Bank, explained the concept and urged the financial sector to embrace to create wealth for the people.
Speaking on the topic: ‘Financial inclusion and economic development: evolutions, innovations and challenges, and on financial literacy and inclusion in rural Africa: Access or Usage,’ Dr. Derban stressed that financial literacy would have limited impact if people do not obtain appropriate products and services.

He added that his outfit, which is the first to roll out Agency Banking, has opened over 200 Fidelity Smart Agents where many people deposit and withdraw cash in addition to a range of financial transactions at selected retail shops.
‘Fidelity Bank is building Financial Capability through its innovative Smart Account and Agency Banking and is already revolutionising banking in Ghana. It is an honour to bring our work to an Africa wide audience and demonstrate how Ghana, through Fidelity Bank, is one of the banks leading the way in full inclusion in Africa,’ he said.
