Mahama’s crass incompetence to blame for economic woes – Sammy Awuku

National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku is blaming the socio-economic hardship in the country to the ‘crass incompetence of the Mahama-led administration’.

According to him, in spite of the enormous resources available to government, it is rather putting square pegs in round holes.

Sammy Awuku’s comment comes after government’s call on the citizenry to be optimistic as it works towards economic recovery.

Deputy Information Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu at a press conference in Accra urged Ghanaians to be hopeful and ignore the ‘despondency and hopelessness’ being foisted on the nation.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Sammy Awuku said ‘a pessimist is an optimist with experience’.

He explained that President Mahama has not provided any inspirational leadership to give Ghanaians hope in the Better Ghana Agenda.

‘We don’t need a soothsayer to tell us the economy is in crisis [because] it has stretched to its elastic limit’ he added.

The NPP youth leader attributed the current economic crisis to the huge public debt; fiscal indiscipline and the reckless expenditures in the 2012 election year.

Sammy Awuku called on Ghanaians to look at their present economic situation and decide their fate ahead of the 2016 general elections.

He believes the NPP is the only political party that can change the fortunes of the nation and bring total liberation to the citizenry.

Sammy Awuku said victory for the NPP in 2016 will herald the implementation of new policies that will transform Ghana’s economy and bring prosperity to all. Story by Ghana/Adomonline.com/Adwoa Gyasiwaa
