Why Son Gruesomely Hacked His Father To Death With An Axe

Ikenna Onu, a resident of Aguabosi in Ugwuoba Community, Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, at the weekend reportedly hacked his father, Mr. Christopher Onu, to death with an axe. 

According to Vanguard, the tragedy occurred at their residence in Aguabosi village, when the deceased advised his son to quit smoking Indian hemp.

Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, the State Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident to journalist said, Onu, who is a farmer by profession, called his son, Ikenna into his room on July 4, 2014, after returning from the farm and started advising him to stop taking hard drugs believed to be Indian hemp, in order not destroy his own life.

The force spokesman said the fatherly advise, however, did not go well with Ikenna, who was believed to be under the influence of the hard drug at the time, angrily picked up an axe and cut his father’s head wide open, and the man immediately slumped and bled to death before help could come.

Amaraizu disclosed that the suspected, who has been arrested, is currently in custody at the Criminal Investigations Department of the State Police Command in Enugu.  

The command’s spokesman said officers have already started investigations into the murder and that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary of the General Hospital in Oji River, to enable police perform autopsy.
