Anas at abortion doctor trial

Ace investigative reporter, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, appeared at the trial of Joseph Drah, the alleged self-styled abortion specialist at Universal Mission Clinic, who allegedly had sex some women who desperately wanted to get rid of their pregnancies. Anas, who blew the lid off the activities of Drah, was to give evidence and brought along a video recording of the doctor’s activities which he had to tender to the court presided over by Justice Mahama Iddrisu, in evidence. However, the Chief State Attorney in the case, Evelyn Keelson, did not have a copy of the said video recording and needed to have her own copy. The video recording also contained some hitches so the trial judge had to adjourn the case for it to be worked on. The case was subsequently adjourned to July 18, 2014. The activities of the suspect became known in 2012 after a video recording of the accused person having sex with his victims without condom got into the hands of the reporter. He had been charged with five counts of abortion and operating a facility without license and he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Joseph Drah had also been granted bail in the sum of GHȼl00,000 with one surety to be justified. The principal state attorney who presented the facts of the case said in March 2012, ace investigative reporter, Anas Aremeyaw, had information about the suspect operating a health facility without a license so through painstaking investigations, the activities of the suspect were made known. She stated that a video of the suspect was released in which he was having sexual intercourse with some women shortly before conducting the abortions for them. According to her, the police were alerted and they immediately.
