THE GENERAL Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, has cautioned politicians, party functionaries and serial callers against what he referred to as recycled electoral tension blowing across the airwaves in the country.

The General Secretary said this at an ordination service held for 12 new pastors of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Asiakwa in the Eastern Region, which was under the theme: ‘Fear Not’.

Rev Dr Opuni-Frimpong noted that over the years, elections in the country have been characterized with violent utterances which hype up tension in the country, adding, ‘Such developments have always left both foreigners and some Ghanaians including politicians flying out of the country only to return when elections are over.’

The General Secretary has also urged political leaders of the various political parties ‘to realize the harm such recycled tensions are causing the country’s development agenda and start a process of reforms.’

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt Rev Prof Emmanuel Martey, who performed the ordination service, urged the new pastors to lead Christ-like lives all the time and to serve their respective congregations to the best of their abilities.
