According to Leadership, the musician was infuriated and jumped from his seat to snatch the microphone from the governor’s hands, when the latter was to pay tribute to the late judge at the Sacred heart catholic church, Oguta.

Although it was Rev-Fr Mathew Kukah, who had granted Okorocha the right of speech while officiating at the service, Charly Boy could not tolerate the move.

Vanguard reports that many eminent Nigerians were present at the church, including the representative of President Goodluck Jonathan. It is said that the governor, following the humiliation he had been caused, immediately stormed out of the church accompanied by his aides.

Why did Charly Boy’s negative towards Okorocha came from?

The musician was sure that Okorocha would use his father’s burial for “cheap political” goals. It is also believed that the conflict is connected with the fact that the Imo government had allegedly given the Oputa family N20 million to assist with the service organization. However Saturday Vanguard learnt that the family of the deceased never received this money.

Meanwhile Imo authorities characterized Charly Boy’s actions as “ugly” saying that he had turned the service into a “political theater”. The state leadership also insisted that the government had made “substantial financial input”.
