Police Foils Bomb Attack Inside Kano Mosque

Latest reports emanating from Kano, northern Nigeria indicate that the Nigeria police command in Kano on Friday, 27 June, 2014 foiled a terror attack that would have caused a bloodbath in the ancient city.

According to PUNCH online, the police recovered 13 Improvised Explosive Device, IED, planted on a rickety car within the premises of a Juma’ah mosque at Sauna Dakata in Kano metropolis.

As at the time of compiling this report, details of the report are still being expected.

Meanwhile, Kano state has suffered terror attack recently.

it could be recalled that eight persons were killed in a bomb blast that happened on Monday, 23 June, 2014 at the School of Hygiene in Kano.

According to the Commissioner of Police in Kano state, Adenrele Shinaba, the blast occurred at about 2:05pm inside the school located along Bayero University Kano, BUK, road in Kano.

Speaking with newsmen after the attack, Mr. Shinaba infomed that several others were injured in the incident.

He also said one suspect was arrested in connection with the blast.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast although the insurgent Boko Haram has carried out similar attacks in Kano and other northern states.
