FIX COLLAPSE DOME BRIDGE – ADWOA SAFO URGES GOV.


The Member of Parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya Constittuency in the Greater Accra Region, Hon Sarah Adwoa Safo has called on the government to ensure the urgent repair of the collapse bridge linking the road between Atomic roundabout and Dome to bring back life to normally for residents in the area.

she made the call on the floor of parliament in a statement addressing the incoveniences the collapse of the bridge has brought to motorists and pedestrians in the constitutency.

The bridge which was constructed in 2003 collapsed in the early hours of 17th June, 2014.

According to her, the collapse of the bridge which leads to schools, churches and the main Dome market in the Atomic /Dome areas has brought difficulties in accesing other parts of the town.

the MP noted that the collapse of the bridge has lead to the closure of the main Dome road leading to Taifa and the main Achimota/St John`s road and has also endangered the lives of school chldren, church goers and motorists who attempt using the collapse bridge.

she has therfore appealed to the Ministry of Roads anf Highways and the Department of Hoghways to expediate action on the reconstruction of the bridge for safety of residents and the general motoring public during this rainy season.

Other MP`s who contributed to the statement bemoaned the lack of maintainance culture that has negatively affected the moral fibre of society.

They also blame shoddy works carried out by some contractors as being responsible for the early colapse of many bridges and the deplorable states of many roads across the country.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister who is also the MP for Kpone Katamanso, Hon Nii afotey Agbo assured the house that his outfit in collaboration with the appropriate state agency are working hard to reconstruct the collapse bridge.

He urged his colleage MP`s to work in cillaboration with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and the Department of Roads and Highways in their constituencies to address challenges.
