Isaac Opele Boateng: Kwesi Appiah Has To Listen

Coach Isaac Opele Boateng has told Ghana Sports newspaper that Black Stars Head Coach James Kwesi Appiah does not take in other views and seems not ready to take advice from well wishers of the team in the Stars’ campaign at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

According to the former Asante Kotoko coach, Kwesi Appiah had his tactics wrong against the United States in their opener in Natal.

“Kwesi Appiah needs to listen to ideas from all corners and take a final decision before going into a particular game,” he said.

Coach ‘Opeele’ accused Kwesi Appiah of making the biggest mistake of his career when he told the media he was waiting to see a strong US team get tired before introducing some key players.

According to a close source, he announced a 26-man squad instead of a 30-man squad before the tournament in Brazil but later added four players.

“During the South Korea warm-up game, the media released Ghana’s starting eleven and yet again Kwesi Appiah changed the squad and that resulted in our opener with the USA,” Coach Opele said.

Coach Opeele Boateng has, however, lauded the teams’ performance against both the US and Germany and urged them to fight to the end at this year’s world cup as they face Portugal on Thursday.

“Against Portugal in the final group game, it could go either way but trust the stars to triumph over Portugal.”
