Suspected Boko Haram fighters killed about 16 soldiers during an assault on a military block-post at Bulabulin Ngaura in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, Punch reports.

A military man, who had barely survived in the attack during the night of June 24, 2014, Tuesday, made some shocking revelations to journalists in the capital city of Borno State, Maiduguri.
“We were totally subdued by the insurgents,” he said, adding that some of his colleagues were wounded, and some were abducted.
The soldier revealed that dozens of Boko Haram insurgents arrived in a convoy of over 30 vehicles. Heavy guns, designed for shooting both air and land targets, were mounted on the jeeps.
“We tried our best, but they had advantage over us.
“They had AA [Anti-air guns], and we had AK47 rifles that are not fully loaded,” the survivor revealed.
When the defending military men realised that Boko Haram insurgents have taken over the place, some of them retreated escaped to Maiduguri and other locations. Unfortunately, some of them could not make it.
“As I am talking to you, 16 bodies of our colleagues have been brought to Maiduguri; these are besides those that sustained injuries and many others that are missing in action,” the soldier said.
The official confirmation on both the incident and the number of perished personnel is still awaited from the authorities.
This is not the first attack on a military checkpoint in Borno State over the last several days. At least three soldiers were killed in a suicide bomb attack on a military checkpoint in Gwoza, not far from Nigeria-Cameroon border, on June 22, 2014, Sunday.
