Military of Cameroon have reportedly arrested 40 Boko Haram suspects in the country north and sealed off the market, where the dreaded sect militants might be hiding weapon for operating in the neighbouring Nigeria.

With reference to the local radio broadcaster Leadership reports that “the arrests are in connection with ongoing investigations into the activities of the Boko Haram group in the far north region of the country”.
Meanwhile responding to the mass arrest businessman Wanika Baba told Danay FM radio station that he could not understand why some people, who were his colleagues, were arrested adding that many residents, including women and children, were seriously affected by market shutdown .

This move by the Cameroonian military was said to be the first operation on such a large scale in a single day. Since Cameroon joined Nigeria in fight against insurgency following the kidnap of more than 250 of girls in Chibok, Borno State, the neighbours’ government pledged support in the fierce battle.
Colonel Nyemeck Pierre responsible for today’s raid told VOA that the central government ordered the military action as part of its fight against Boko Haram incursions into Cameroon.
It would be recalled that recent reports said that the insurgents were snatching young boys from Cameroonian schools located around the border with Nigeria and were forcing them into the sect, which caused a wave of panic among the locals.
Cameroonian government, which also believes that Boko Haram are now recruiting men in the country, urge residents of areas bordering with Borno State (Nigeria) to be vigilant and cooperate with authorities.
