Maulvi Wahab Is Dead

Maulvi Wahab Adam
Maulvi Wahab Adam, the Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, has passed away at the age of 79.

He died yesterday afternoon at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s Cardio-Thoracic Centre.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later, the Public Relations Officer of the Ahmaddiyya Muslim Mission told DAILY GUIDE yesterday.

The highly respected cleric was a member of the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) and later the Ghana Peace Council.

He has played important roles in the educational development of the country. It is expected that in line with Islamic convention, he would be buried today.

The deceased was born at Brofeyedru in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region in 1935 and had his secondary education at the TI Ahmadiyya Secondary School in Kumasi.

He attended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Seminary and the Ahmadiyya Theological University, Rabwah, Pakistan.

He became Deputy Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in the UK – a position he held until he was appointed the Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Mission in Ghana.

His contribution towards the development of education and enhancement of the image of Islam is household knowledge.

He would be greatly missed by many organisations which have sought his counsel in dealing with members of the Islamic faith.

He has appeared on many academic platforms representing the face of Islam.
