A book written by the Head of Finance and Investment for Unique Trust (UT) Financial Services Nigeria Limited, Daniel Amuzu entitled: ‘Living Naked: The Wit and Wisdom of Prince Kofi Amoabeng,’ has been launched in Accra.

The book covers the unique leadership qualities of Prince Kofi Amoabeng, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UT Bank that have led to the significant transformation of the finance institution.

According to the author, the book was written to enable African youth, who might not have the opportunity to meet Mr. Amoabeng in person to learn from his inspirational leadership style.

‘After learning so much from Mr. Amoabeng, I asked myself; how will those without the opportunity to work with him know of his brilliant ideas about time, respect for people, loyalty, courage, and sincerity, tenacity of character, among other things, that will improve the quality of their lives so I wrote this book in an answer to that question,’ said the accountant cum writer.

‘Let me sum it by saying that Mr. Amoabeng’s leadership is inspirational. And under inspirational leaders, a lot of things happen such as an accountant writing a biography.’

According to him, ‘The continent has had a few great inspirational leaders in the past but due to the fact that nothing was written about them, they passed on with people completely forgetting about their contributions to the growth of Africa because we don’t have any documented facts about them.’

For him, the success of Mr. Amoabeng in building the UT kingdom from scratch ‘is full of lessons for those venturing into business. His ideas on management mark him out as a maverick of sorts.’

Each of the 17 chapters of the book begins with a quotation from renowned and prolific writers and individuals.  According to Uncle Ebo Whyte, the famous Ghanaian Playwright, the book is ‘simple to read but deep like its subject.’

Mr. Amoabeng, in a remark, commended the author and said ‘it is an centric book.’

According to him, many institutions, especially public institutions in Africa, have failed because ‘Africans do not respect systems and institutions in place,’ adding that Africa is about individuals and systems and institutions.

He observed that ‘success in life is all about following systems. If we can respect systems on the continent, Africa will be on the right path.’

About 20 copies of Living Naked: The Wit and Wisdom of Prince Kofi Amoabeng auctioned at the launch raked in about GH¢44,000.00 with Mr. Amoabeng himself buying a copy for GH¢20,000.
