People Want Me Out Of NPP Council – Amoako Tuffour

A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Council of Elders, Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour has told Citi News there is a grand scheme to remove him from the party’s Council of Elders.

Dr. Amoako Tuffour says some executives of the Ashanti regional branch of the NPP have petitioned the national leadership to ensure he is no longer a member of the party’s highest decision making body.

He told Citi News, people within the party see him as a threat following his open declaration of support for Nana Akufo-Addo.

“If I’m not there, those who are trying to derail the whole process for Akufo-Addo will have a field day so if they have to find a way to stop me,” he added.

The NPP council member recalled that he was one of the few individuals who started the party “and we invested our time and money, put my life on the road.”

He claimed that some other members of the council have entrenched positions in the support of one presidential candidate aspirant or the other.

He was however quick to add that no grand scheme against him “will shut me out because the party needs to be strong, the party needs honest, straight forward people to move on.”

Meanwhile, the much anticipated National Executive Committee meeting of the party has been called off.

No reason has been given as to why it has been called off.
