Actor justifies naming twins Nollywood and Hollywood

Nollywood actor and movie producer, Femi Ogedengbe has defended a decision to name his twins Nollywood and Hollywood.

The actor and his wife welcomed the twins in May this year. The actor, explained in an interview with Nigeria’s Encomium magazine that he opted for Nollywood in appreciation for his gains in the film industry while Hollywood is for his future aspirations.

‘The names are my own way of appreciating the industry that gave me a chance, that is Nollywood and the industry I aspire to breakthrough, Hollywood,” he said.

The Nollywood actor was heavily criticized for naming his twins with a rather uncommon name.

For those who criticized him, he said, “I will simply say thank you to the people who criticized meĀ for giving me attention. It shows they noticed me. Also it shows they left their own problems to respond to a guy with a very humble background from Dagbale Akoko Edo who grew up in the slums of Mushin.”

Femi however said the names were not a ploy to seek attention contrary to what critics perceived: ‘Sadly, all the attention they gave us did not come with money.’ Story by Ghana | Myjoyonline.com | Ernest Dela Aglanu (Twitter: @delaXdela / Instagram: citizendela)
