World Cup 2014: Ghana vs USA Is ‘War’ – Kwadwo Asamoah

The Black Stars midfielder said it takes a lot of “believe and determination” to win this “war” against the USA who would not want to lose for the third time against Ghana.

Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has earmarked the group game between Ghana and the USA tonight at the 2014 World Cup as the toughest.

He said it will take a great deal of hard work for the Black Stars to be third time lucky against The Stars and Stripes, who had lost two previous World Cup clashes against the west Africans.

The 25-year-old admitted that “this group is not going to be easy” in a chat with Goal Ghana. He recalled that he “didn’t even think about Germany and Portugal. What came into my mind was ‘these USA people again?’”

“I think it is going to be war because they won’t sit back to lose three times to Ghana. It is not going to be easy for only us, but Germany and Portugal too,” the midfielder opined. “There is no group favourite. Individuals don’t matter in football anymore but how the team plays on the field.”

He was optimistic Ghana will go far at Brazil 2014 and rallied Ghanaians to sustain their support for the team at the Mundial.

Asamoah added: “It is all about believe and determination. We are going to do our best to come out [of the group]. Ghanaians should believe in us because we are the same players that qualified for the World Cup.

“No one knows who is going to win the World Cup. With team spirit we can move forward. We have to approach every game seriously and that will determine where we’ll finish. It is all about hard work. Let’s think about our group games first then we look at what happens next.”
