This Woman Chose Dolls Over Men

Finding a date is hard enough, but Natasha Goldsmith, 29, of Exeter, England, is having an especially hard time getting guys to say hello to her kitty — her Hello Kitty collection that is.

Though Goldsmith used to be a horse trainer, she has lived and breathed white cats with wide-eyes, eyelashes and bows since she was a teenager. Her obsession began at age 15, when she was given a Hello Kitty notebook.

Since then, Goldsmith has spent about 84,000 dollars on over 10,000 items that fill her small flat to the brim. She has collected everything from Hello Kitty plush dolls, to Hello Kitty jewelry, to Hello Kitty kitchenware, to Hello Kitty snow globes to Hello Kitty bedding to… you get the idea.

Goldsmith says she is proud to have gone from having just one notebook to the ever-accumulating collection she’s achieved today. While others are also impressed by her unusual hobby, Goldsmith says men have a particularly hard time coping with it. “They feel very uncomfortable,” she says in the video above. “They don’t know where to sit or where to look.”

But Goldsmith’s loyalties lie with her cats.

“Boyfriends in the past have tried to make me give her up, so I got rid of them,” she told the Daily Mirror. “It’s part of who I am and I’m not changing for anybody.”
