The embattled newly-crowned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi on Friday, entered his palace with huge crowd after a protracted wait at the state governor’s lodge since his crowning.

The new Emir, who conducted the late afternoon Asr prayer inside the palace mosque was well received by hundreds of joyous subjects. He left the Governor’s lodge in Kano around 3.30 p.m after conducting the Friday Jummaa’t prayers and the 7th day Fidau prayer for the late Emir, Ado Bayero.
Sanusi, who was driven into the palace in the official vehicles of the emirate successfully entered into the palace through brand new gate, specifically erected for his entry as part of an age-old tradition while the palace guards shot series of gunshots to mark his entry into the palace.
The Emir’s glorious entering today is, however, not shocking as it was earlier hinted that the new Emir will be going to his palace upon the withdrawal of the policemen stationed at his official residence to arrest him.
It would be recalled that the police on Thursday ended their four-day siege to the official residence of the Emir. Armed policemen were stationed in the Emir’s palace because of series of protests that accompanied the appointment of the former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor as the new Emir of Kano.
Meanwhile, following the end of the siege, preparations were being put in place to ensure that the newly-crowned Emir, who had been ruling Kano from the state Government House since Monday when he was crowned, relocated to his palace.
Meanwhile, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers in the House of Representatives disagreed on Thursday over the allegation by Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso that President Goodluck Jonathan was behind the crisis that followed the appointment of Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano.
The governor had said Jonathan had no business in the appointment of Sanusi as an emir, said it was worrisome that he (President) was meddling in the affairs of Kano State.
The PDP caucus in the House said the governor was “playing politics” by making such an allegation, while the APC caucus argued that the governor’s claims deserved to be investigated.
However, the state police commissioner, Aderele Shinaba on Thursday refuted the state governor’s allegation, saying the policemen were stationed at the Emir palace in order to prevent looting by protesters and also denied that President Goodluck Jonathan had anything to do with the development.
