Appointments Not Cause Of Economic Hardship – Minister

The Government has rejected accusations that President Mahama has appointed incompetent people to steer the affairs of the country.

Minority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu told Citi News on Wednesday, that Ghana’s current economic crisis is partly as a result of incompetent appointees at the helm of affairs.

He therefore called for an entire overhaul of the government and the appointment of more experienced people, which, according to him would help fix the country’s problems.

The Deputy Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi, however, says the Minority leader’s assertion was wrong.

He told Citi News that he did not believe that the appointments made by the President were responsible for the current state of the economy.

“The president, in his state of the nation address, prescribed certain directives as to how he wanted us to come out of this problem and practical steps are being taken to ensure that we move from imports to exports,” Mr. Ahi added.

He further accused the Kufour-led administration of failing to implement policies that would have effectively dealt with the country’s electricity problems.
