Prez Mahama Assures Zongo Communities

President John Dramani Mahama has assured all Zongo communities across the country that, his administration is very concerned about evolving the deprived areas to make living there comfortable for the Muslim society.

According to him, major projects to overhaul the Zongo community will soon commence with support from the Brazilian government. The President also noted that government will soon liaise with the Council of Muslim Chiefs to come up with educated training programmes for the Zongo youth.

After meeting with the Council of Muslim Chiefs at the Flagstaff House, Tuesday, June 10, 2014, President John Dramani Mahama posted government plans for the Zongo Communities on his Facebook wall.

He said, “I told the Council of Muslim Chiefs that our government is to begin soon a major project aimed at improving the living conditions in the Zongo communities. This project, which is undertaken in collaboration with the Brazilian government, consists of building and developing roads, housing and drains.”

He added that “Our government will also liaise with the Council of Muslim Chiefs to come up with training programmes for the Zongo youth, because unemployment is always a source for social tensions”.
